By now the idea of phones exploding are probably being associated with Samsung and the Galaxy Note 7, but it looks like Apple is facing some problems of their own. A report from last month revealed than a brand new iPhone 7 had exploded, and now a new report from Australia has revealed that we have our second reported explosion.

According to the report, the owner of the phone Mat Jones claims that he left the phone in his car under a pile of clothes while we was off at a surf lesson. When he returned, he discovered that his car was filled with smoke and that the clothes he had covered the phone with was on fire.

Jones claims that the phone was a week old and that he had not dropped it nor had he used it with foreign chargers, which is usually one of the main sources of blame. It is possible that the clothes covering the device could have potentially led to it overheating and thus catching on fire, igniting Jones’ clothes and thus damaging his car in the process, but that’s just speculation for now.

Apple has declined to comment on the matter but they did acknowledge that they are aware of the complaint and are investigating the matter.
