Google’s new Pixel phones are interesting. It marks the first time that Google has decided to release a non-Nexus handset, and it also marks a new direction that Google is headed in which they will be giving the Pixel handsets some exclusive features that will not be found in other Android handsets.
So how well will these phones sell? According to DigiTimes, they expect Google’s new Pixel phones to do quite well. Based on their estimates, they think that Google could sell as many as 4 million handsets by the end of the year, which is pretty impressive especially when you consider how this will also affect HTC who is the manufacturer of the device.
However while DigiTimes is pretty optimistic about the Pixel phones, we have our own reservations. Granted these devices are a new series of handsets from Google which should be interesting by itself, but they do not come cheap either which means that what used to make Nexus phones so appealing in terms of price might not be applied here, which could alienate some customers.
In any case it is probably too early to tell since the phones were only announced a couple of days ago, so we’ll just have to wait and see. In the meantime what do you guys think? Do you think the new Pixel phones from Google will do well?
