Now that Samsung’s second flagship for 2016 has gone up in flames (literally), we guess we’ll have to shift our focus to what Samsung has in store for us in 2017. We can only assume that the Galaxy S8 is pretty much a guarantee, and now thanks to new rumors, we might have some new information about the phone.
There have been rumors to suggest that the Galaxy S8 might only be offered in a curved screen variant, but that might not be 100% true. Based on this new information, apparently there will be two versions offered: a 5.1-inch curved QHD display, and another with a 5.5-inch 4K display, which presumably will be more for virtual reality purposes.
There are also rumors that indicate that Samsung could be including Viv AI into the phone. Given that Samsung has announced plans to acquire the company, we guess this wouldn’t be a stretch, and naturally this also means that Samsung’s S Voice will be replaced. However S Voice never really had the same traction as the other voice assistant platforms, so we’re not sure how much it will truly be missed.
Safe to say that this should definitely be taken with a grain of salt for now, and with the fallout Samsung has been receiving from the Galaxy Note 7, we can only imagine that Samsung will want the Galaxy S8 to amaze everyone enough for them to forget about the Note 7’s problems.
