It’s not unusual for a package that has been left on your doorstep to be stolen and I am sure many believe that there has to be a better way to deliver packages when they are not at home to receive them. As one of the biggest online retailers that sends out millions of packages every single day it’s in Amazon’s interest to work out this program and if a new report is believed, Amazon is working with smart lock company August and connected garage door company Garageio for in-home deliveries.
The Information reports that the idea here is to enable customers to receive packages in their home even when they’re out. This will be particularly useful for customers who are unable to receive packages at work or don’t live in a fancy building that has a doorman.
The scribe says that these companies will offer their in-home deliveries services during checkout on Amazon. Garageio will enable the delivery person to drop off the package in your garage while an August smart lock would enable them to actually come inside your home.
Theft remains a big concern with in-home deliveries and that’s beside the fact that only a few people have smart locks on their front doors. It’s likely that these companies are just looking at the feasibility of this delivery option right now before they actually take steps to offer it as a viable delivery option.
