Qualcomm might have been known to some as a maker of chipsets found in smartphones, but in the past few years the company has evolved into creating chips for non-mobile devices. For example earlier this year the company launched chipsets for wearables in the form of the Snapdragon Wear 1100 and the Snapdragon Wear 2100.
However it seems that’s not all Qualcomm is looking to conquer. The company has recently taken the wraps off a pair of new chipsets that have been designed for embedded devices and the IoT (internet of things). This comes in the form of the Qualcomm 410E and the 600E, with the former clocked at 1.2GHz with an Adreno 306 GPU, while the latter is clocked at 1.5GHz with an Adreno 320 GPU.
The 410E will also feature Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity, 802.11 b/g/n, and GPS, while the 600E will come with support for Bluetooth 4, an 802.11 a to ac radio, and GPS. In addition to launching these new chipsets, Qualcomm has also teamed up with the likes of Arrow Electronics. This will allow the company to offer the chipsets in smaller numbers, which might come in handy for smaller-medium sized companies who don’t have the resources or the need to order chipsets in the millions.
At this time it is unclear as to which IoT devices or embedded gadgets will be the first to take advantage of these new chipsets from Qualcomm.
