Are you one of the millions of people who use Twitter regularly? Do pay attention because soon you will start seeing a new kind of ad on the microblogging network. A few months ago, Twitter introduced stickers which enable users to add flair to the photos that they share online and now it’s going to be using those stickers to make money. Twitter has confirmed that promoted stickers are coming to the microblogging platform.
Starting today, brands can create and promote custom stickers which anyone on Twitter can use. Promoted options will be featured in the #Stickers library and provide brands an opportunity to raise awareness and drive brand affinity through Twitter.
Brands can design four or eight stickers that users will be able to add to their photos. Photos that have a brand’s sticker are shared with all of the user’s followers, they basically act like a visual hashtag as photos with the brand’s sticker will be discoverable to anyone who taps on that sticker.
Twitter is kicking things off with Pepsi which is the exclusive launch partner for promoted stickers and it will share almost 50 custom stickers across 10 markets for fans to use with the drink company’s PepsiMoji campaign. Users will start seeing the promoted stickers in the near future.
