Earlier this year, many of you guys might have heard the story about Harambe the gorilla, where the gorilla was killed after a young boy fell into his enclosure, and a zoo worker fearing for the boy’s safety made the decision to shoot and kill the animal. Whether or not you agree with the shooting is a debate for another day, but it is clear that there are many who still think about him.
So much so that a petition on Change.org has been launched to turn Haramba into a Pokemon character. According to the petition, they are calling for a Pokemon called Hambo to be created, who will turn evolve into Harambe at later levels. They are also asking to make him a “Ghost” and “Fighting” type Pokemon.
The petition reads, “Harambe deserves to live on forever in our hearts. Support this petition if you want Harambe to become a Pokémon.” So far close to 20,000 people have signed the petition and they are aiming for 25,000, after which it will then be sent off to the folks at Nintendo and the Pokemon Company.
We reckon it might be a bit of a long shot but speaking to INSIDER, the creator of the petition, Eric said, “I’m just trying to keep Harambe’s legacy alive. All of these poor animals are getting killed and I feel like they should be represented by something.” If you’re interested in signing the petition, head on over to Change.org.
