When the Moto Z and its Moto Mods were announced, there were some modules that were “missing”. We say “missing” because prior to the official announcement, there were some leaks and one of those leaks showed a camera Moto Mod that was never announced, although earlier this month a photo surfaced which showed a Hasselblad-made camera module.
Now thanks to a new photo, the module has shown up once again in a slightly clearer pic. It looks pretty much the same as the previous leak and it has Hasselblad’s logo on the front. It is unclear as to how involved Hasselblad was in the making of this module. Did they actually design it entirely themselves? Or did they just provide consultation to Motorola and license out their brand?
We guess we’ll just need to wait and see how the modules themselves perform to get a better idea. However from what we can tell, this looks like a full-on camera. There will be a dedicated shutter release button, zoom controls, and a flash unit. It almost reminds us of those camera attachments Sony made not too long ago.
There is a good chance that the Hasselblad Moto Mod could be announced at IFA 2016. A couple of weeks ago, Lenovo released a trailer and in the video, it showed that Moto Mods could be one of the things the company will be showing off, but either way check back with us next month for the official details, if there are any to be had.
