It seems that some robbers have become rather enterprising and have taken advantage of Pokemon GO to lure their victims to them. We heard about such a case taking place in the US, but it seems that it is not an isolated case as a new report from the Macarthur Chronicle in Camden, NSW revealed another robbery has taken place.
According to the report, two Pokemon GO players drove to a skate park where upon entering the carpark, their car was blocked off by another car. Two men got out of the car and then threatened the pair with a rifle. Thankfully no one was hurt and it seems that no one lost anything either as both the robbers fled empty handed.
Detective Doherty of the NSW Police said, “Be aware of the circumstances you are putting yourself in and don’t create a situation where you may be in danger.” While we under the excitement of Pokemon GO, we have heard of situations where people have caused accidents or gotten into accidents because of the game.
This has prompted states like Florida to put up billboards warning people to not drive and play the game. Hopefully this will serve as a reminder to be aware of your surroundings, because let’s face it, no Pokemon is worth risking your life over, right?
