Given how many people are playing Pokemon GO right now, there’s a good chance that while you’re playing, you’ll bump into someone else who is playing the game. This is a great way to strike up a conversation, make a new friend, or maybe even fall in love. However if you haven’t had much luck in the romance department, don’t worry.
A new service called PokeDates is planned for a launch in the near future (apparently today) in which it will let Pokemon GO players match with other players and go out on a date to catch Pokemon together, or other non-game related activities like grabbing a meal, watching a concert, going to the movies, and so on.
PokeDates is actually built off an existing dating service called Project Fixup. What makes this so different from other dating services like OkCupid or Tinder is that it’s all done by humans, meaning that you answer a few questions about yourself, and an actual person will try to match you with someone they think will be best suited to you, versus an algorithm which sometimes isn’t always accurate.
Unfortunately going on PokeDates is not cheap. The first date will apparently be free if they use the POKEDATES2016 promo code, but subsequent setups will be priced at $20. Whether or not the service will be worth the $20 is up to you, but if you’re looking for someone with at least one shared interest, this could be it.
