Folks who like watching porn while munching down on a Big Mac will need to take their business someplace else because McDonald’s has changed its public Wi-Fi policy. It will no longer allow customers to watch porn via the free Wi-Fi offered in its restaurants, to deter such customers it’s going to apply filters to the internet connection so that any and all pornographic content can not be accessed over its network.
Internet safety group Enough Is Enough has been calling on McDonald’s to do this for over two years now and Ronald has finally caved in. EIE’s agenda is to ensure that children are prevented from seeing mature content online. McDonald’s says that it has decided to make this change to prevent people from watching porn in its restaurants so that it can create “a safe environment.”
Wi-Fi filtering will eventually go live at all of McDonad’s corporate-owned locations across the United States. The company says that it has already activated Wi-Fi filtering in the majority of its nearly 14,000 locations nationwide.
It’s unclear whether or not this policy applies to franchised locations. It may be left up to the franchise owners to decide if they are not opposed to the idea of enabling people to watch porn in a restaurant.
