Huawei’s fortunes in the global mobile market have improved significantly over the past couple of years and it wants that momentum to continue. The company has set its sights on world domination and as part of its plan to rule the mobile market, Huawei is looking to open as many as 15,000 retail stores across the globe. It’s planning to sell an ambitious 140 million smartphones in 2016, particularly focusing on its high-end models.

The company says that it’s “optimistic” about reaching its target of 140 million smartphones sold this year, it would be an increase of 30 percent in a year considering the company sold 108 million units in the previous year .

It’s not like Huawei doesn’t have a retail presence anywhere in the world. The company currently has more than 35,000 stores across the globe with 11,000 of them being in China, 6,500 spread across Asia, 1,500 in South America, and 6,200 in Europe. This figure does not include third-party retailers and carrier shops.

Chief executive of Huawei’s consumer business group Richard Yu Chengdong says that this impressive number of retail stores is “far from enough,” and that the company is going to open more retail stores overseas. The aim is to add another 15,000 locations in the retail network in the coming months and years.
