While there are many smartphone makers who have integrated wireless charging technology into their devices, it is pretty obvious that wireless charging tech isn’t as big as it should be. This is probably due to the limitations in which the phones need to be placed on a charging mat, and also it tends to charge slower than regular charging.
However could Apple have finally cracked the code when it comes to wireless charging? According to a report from Chinese website MyDrivers, they have suggested that Apple’s iPhone 8 could finally introduce wireless charging technology. Unfortunately given the state of Apple rumors, it’s really quite hard to say if this is true.
Right now this year’s iPhone is expected to be the iPhone 7, but last we heard, Apple could be reserving the iPhone 7 name for 2017’s model. This means that the iPhone 8 will probably arrive in 2018/2019, or if the 3-year refresh cycle is to be believed, 2020 which is admittedly a very, very long way off.
That being said, next year’s iPhone is said to be quite a game changer in terms of design and features as it will be sporting an OLED screen, something that has been rumored about for a while and could finally materialize next year. In any case take with a grain of salt, but how does wireless charging sound to you guys?
