The Google I/O 2016 developer conference is just around the corner and it appears that one of the biggest companies from China is going to have a big presence at the event. Xiaomi itself has confirmed today that it’s going to be a part of Google I/O 2016 and it’s believed that the company could unveil something new at Google’s developer conference, though it’s not exactly clear what device the company has in store for us.
Xiaomi has sold tens of millions of smartphones and other devices in China as well as neighboring countries but it’s not exactly a household name in the United States. That’s not to say that it doesn’t have any ambitions of conquering the U.S. market.
A few years ago the company hired ex-Google executive Hugo Barra to be its head of international expansion. Barra tweeted today that “Xiaomi will be a part of Google I/O,” and that what you see above is a sneak peek of what you’ll see from the company at I/O.
The image doesn’t appear to be hinting at a smartphone, rather it hints at something more along the lines of a media player. Some believe that we might even see the company announce an Android TV device at Google I/O 2016.
It’s not really known for sure right now what Xiaomi will be unveiling at the conference but at least we do know for sure that it’s going to unveil something there, we just have to wait for a couple of days to find out once and for all.
