According to Capcom’s recent financials that they revealed earlier this month, it was hinted that they could be working on a new Resident Evil title in the form of Resident Evil 7 (or whatever they plan on calling it). It was also suggested that the game could be released by the end of the 2016 fiscal year which is set for the 31st of March, 2017.
The good news is that maybe we won’t have to wait too long to see what Capcom is working on. According to recent tweets made by Dr. Serkan Toto, the CEO of Kantan Games, he has suggested that Resident Evil 7 is indeed in the works and that we could be getting a glimpse of it during E3 2016 itself.
Toto claims that the game will see it return to the horror roots of the original Resident Evil title, and that it will represent a clean slate in the franchise, although whether or not this means that the game will be a reboot of the franchise remains to be seen. Given that Resident Evil has indeed be running for many years, we suppose a reboot wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Since Capcom does not have a conference scheduled for E3 this year, chances are if any footage or announcements are to be made, it will probably be during Sony or Microsoft’s conferences. Either way check back with us next month to see if there are any additional details worth sharing.
