There is a reason why many sporting enthusiasts and thrill seekers tend to go for GoPro cameras. This is because GoPro cameras are small, light, and can be mounted on a variety of surfaces which allows for some pretty amazing action footage. Now we’ve seen companies like HTC throw their hat in the ring, and now it looks like LG wants a slice of that pie too.
The company has recently taken the wraps off the latest gadget in the Friends ecosystem called the LG Action Cam LTE. As the name and photo above suggests, this is a camera designed for action adventures and the fact that it comes with support for LTE means that it can be used to stream live footage.
The camera will feature an IP67 rating meaning that it is both water and dust resistant, making it perfect for the outdoors. However for those looking to take it underwater for extended periods of time, there will be a waterproof case available as well. It packs a 1,400mAh battery which according to LG, will allow it to record Full HD video for up to 4 hours.
It can capture video in UHD resolution at 30fps, Full HD at 60fps, and HD at 120fps. When used for streaming, its quality will be HD at 30fps. While it has been designed as an action camera, LG has also suggested that due to its ability to stream, it can also double up as a CCTV or an automobile dash cam. No word on pricing just yet but it is expected to be released next month.
