Apple made the HomeKit platform so that smart connected objects could play nice with its devices. Even though it’s one platform, it can be a bit of a headache for users to manage all of their smart devices since they have to jump into multiple apps to control them. It appears that the next major update of iOS is going to make that much simpler by introducing a separate HomeKit app for controlling smart home devices.
MacRumors reports that the next major update of iOS is going to come with a standalone HomeKit application. It’s unclear how the app will work but it appears that the app will serve as a one-stop solution for all connected objects that are compatible with HomeKit.
Apple has obviously confirmed nothing at this point in time. It is due to unveil iOS 10 at the Worldwide Developers Conference next month so that’s when we’ll really find out if this app is going to be included in iOS 10 or not.
Since there’s no conclusive evidence to support this theory it’s best to take it with a grain of salt for now. Even if Apple is considering introducing a standalone HomeKit app, who knows it might axe the idea in the future, we still have a long way to go before iOS 10 comes out in the fall.
