With the success that Star Wars: The Force Awakens had, not to mention the cliffhanger they left us with, we’re sure many of us are excited to see what the sequel will hold. Right now we only know it as Star Wars: Episode VIII but the good news is that the movie appears to be progressing along very nicely.
According to a post on his Tumblr blog, the movie’s director Rian Johnson shared some updates about the progress and revealed that the movie was halfway through filming. Johnson writes, “I can’t believe we’re halfway through the shoot. (We’re halfway through the shoot!)” He also shared two photos that were taken on set which you can see for yourself above and below.
The movie had entered into principal photography earlier this year, and now with filming halfway through, it looks like the movie does seem to be on track for its release which is set for the 15th of December, 2017. While that’s still more than a year to go, fans of the Star Wars franchise can whet their appetites later this year with the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Right now it’s anyone’s guess as to what the next Star Wars movie could be about. We know that Luke Skywalker will be returning, which we guess was obvious, and thanks to an alleged leaked script a potential plot (and potential spoilers) has been revealed.
