If you like watching content on Netflix then you have to pay for it unless you have generous friends who share their Netflix credentials with you, or you’re on a family member’s plan. Paying for Netflix is easy, you just need a credit or debit card, but what if you don’t have that plastic? Netflix is in the process of allowing its subscribers to pay for their subscription using Google Play.
Netflix rolled out an update today for its Android app, the changelog mentions that it brings bug fixes, and it also reveals something under the “coming soon” heading.
“Subscribe for Netflix via Google Play Billing (new permission required),” reads the changelog, confirming that Netflix will indeed allow subscribers to pay using Google Play.
Basically, what this means is that Netflix subscribers will be able to pay for their subscription using Play Store billing instead of setting up their cards directly with the service. That might seem simpler, but those who don’t have a card, they can use gift cards to fund Google Play and then pay for their subscription.
From the looks of it, Netflix will flip the switch on this feature server side to enable users to pay for their subscription using Google Play billing.
