In this developer program, it has already seen over 100 companies jump on board, including toymaker Fisher-Price, who will make use of childproof GoPro camera mounts in its range of walkers and gyms. This particular program will be able to support third-party companies who are “creating very meaningful customer solutions for their own customers while scaling GoPro’s own ecosystem in a very important way.”
GoPro had a very good start thanks to its range of Hero wearable video cameras which targeted action-sports enthusiasts, but other than that niche market, they do face challenges in expanding their horizons, which in turn hurts their bottom line. In fact, in January this year, GoPro shed 100 jobs thereabouts after failing to meet fourth-quarter sales expectations, following rumors of Apple acquiring GoPro. Press Release
