Update – Spotify has since confirmed that they are still supporting the app on Windows Phone.
If you are still using a Windows Phone handset and you use apps like Spotify to get your fix of music streaming, you might be disappointed to learn that Spotify has recently confirmed that they have officially ended support for its Windows Phone app, so don’t expect to see any new versions of the app being pushed out in the future.
According to an email posted by Twitter user Alessandro S, “We can confirm Windows Phone 8.x is no longer supported. You can still use our Spotify application on the associated devices, but it will no longer receive any further updates and download the application. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
As the email reads, the app will continue to function, but should you find any problems with the app like a bug, or maybe other platforms are starting to get new features that you want, then don’t expect Spotify to update it. As to whether or not Spotify will release a native app for Windows 10, that is something they can’t confirm.
According to Spotify customer support rep Tsvetan, “Regarding Windows 10, we can’t say at the moment if or when any specific release will be out, but as soon as there is something new, you will receive a notification on your device that an update is available and prompted to download it.”
