Many were hoping that Apple will talk about MacBooks at its event yesterday and perhaps even announce an updated lineup but it didn’t do any of that. The company has been quiet about new MacBooks for a long time now and customers are surely getting restless. There’s still no comment or hint from the company about this but as per a new rumor, Apple is going to ship “ultra-thin” 13 and 15 inch MacBooks by July this year.
According to the rumor, Apple is going to ship the new ultra-thin MacBooks in 13 and 15 inch sizes at the end of Q2 2016. Since the second quarter of the year ends at June 30th this raises the possibility of Apple unveiling the new MacBooks at WWDC 2016.
Apple hasn’t confirmed the dates for WWDC 2016 yet but it’s likely to take place by mid-July, that’s usually when the developer conference takes place. Apple primarily announces new software updates for iOS and Mac as well as developer tools at this event but the stage has been used in the past for product announcements.
The rumor claims that the new MacBooks will have a design similar to that of the 12 inch MacBook and that they will be thinner than the existing MacBook Air. It doesn’t confirm which MacBook lineup is being updated so we’ll have to take this information with a bit of salt for now.
