Soundcloud has rolled out updated mobile apps today which bring a new feature called Stations. With this feature, users are able to create a streaming radio station from any track that’s available on Soundcloud. It’s really not that different from the radio feature that you’ll find in just about every other music streaming service but it’s nice to see that Soundcloud has finally jumped on the bandwagon.
It’s quite simple to create new stations. Users only need to open the menu on any track and tap on “start track station” to create a Station. All previous stations will be listed under collections inside the mobile app.
A similar feature has already been available on the web version of Soundcloud as a series of related tracks play instantly after the selected track stops playing. This related tracks feature wasn’t available on the iOS and Android apps so Soundcloud is closing that gap with Stations.
The Stations feature will enable users to discover more music on Soundcloud which is particularly popular among up and coming artists that are not signed to major labels that provide the bulk of the music for major services like Spotify and Apple Music.
Stations are included in the latest version of the Soundcloud mobile app that’s available for download right away from the App Store and the Google Play Store.
