A few years ago, compact cameras were typically seen as cameras for the average consumer who just wanted a way to capture photos. However today with compact cameras starting to sport better technology, some professionals are more than happy to switch to compact cameras when they are traveling and don’t want to lug around a bulky and heavy DSLR.
For example companies like Canon and Sony have put out cameras with 1-inch sensors, but for some strange reason, Nikon is lagging behind. Last year we heard rumors that Nikon could have such cameras planned for 2016, and now thanks to a report from Digicame-info (via Nikon Rumors), those cameras will be part of the new Nikon DL lineup.
The report claims that we can expect at least 3 different Nikon DL cameras. This includes the Nikon DL 24-85 which sports a 24-85mm f/1.8-2.8 lens; the Nikon DL 18-50 which has an 18-50mm f/1.8-2.8 lens; and the Nikon DL 24-500 which has a 24-500mm f/2.8-5.6 lens. All of them will also come with 1-inch BSI CMOS sensors.
Take it with a grain of salt for now, but we have heard rumors that Nikon is planning high-end compact cameras for early 2016, and with CP+ kicking off next week from the 25-28th of February, perhaps we could learn about these new Nikon cameras then.
