lumia-950xlUnless you own the Lumia 950 or the Lumia 950 XL, or if you are part of the Microsoft Insider program, you probably aren’t running Windows 10 Mobile on your smartphone yet. Back in August we had heard how Microsoft had yet to lockdown a date for the Windows 10 Mobile update, but the good news is that it will be coming soon.

A couple of weeks ago Microsoft announced that the update will arrive in 2016, but when exactly in 2016? Soon it seems. According to Microsoft, they have reassured users that the update will be arriving “soon”. “We’re working to make Windows 10 available to eligible Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 8.1 as an upgrade. If your Lumia is eligible for the upgrade, we’ll let you know when it’s ready.”

Microsoft also warns users that they will need at least 8GB of storage on their phones, so if you don’t perhaps it’s time to start clearing out apps, photos, or videos that you no longer need. “8 GB of internal memory required. Like any upgrade to a new operating system, not every phone will support all possible Windows 10 features. Certain features and experiences will require more advanced future hardware.”

In any case we will be keeping our eyes and ears peeled for more information regarding the update’s availability, so do check back with us in the coming weeks or months for the details.
