There are times when you buy a product, use a service, or visit a place that left a very positive impact on you, so much so that you want to share that experience with all your friends and followers, just out of the kindness of your heart as opposed to being sponsored to say nice things about a brand.
Now it seems that Twitter thinks that’s a great idea because what better way to advertise than through word of mouth, right? According to a report from Digiday, they claim that Twitter is apparently working on a new advertising system where it will take your tweets and have them displayed next to the advertising campaigns for brands.
Say for example you tweeted that you love Coca-Cola, and if the company is running a campaign, your tweets could be displayed alongside it. Of course, this will require your permission as the report claims that Twitter will notify users first and ask for the green light before using your words. Twitter has declined to comment on the report but given that the company has been looking at new ways to advertise on its platform, we wouldn’t be surprised.
Like we said, word of mouth marketing is one of the best forms of marketing, and to see unsponsored tweets from regular folks claiming that X brand/service is good will probably go a long way in terms of attracting new customers, but how do you guys feel about having your tweets potentially used in ad campaigns?
