A report from the other day revealed that Star Wars: Episode VIII would be delayed to December of 2017. The movie was originally pegged for May 2017, but it was decided by the studios to delay it by a few more months. Unfortunately there was no reason given for the delay, but now we might have an idea why.
According to a report from ScreenCrush, the reason why the movie has been delayed is apparently due to script rewrites. It seems that fans were so taken by Rey, Finn, and Poe that director Rian Johnson decided to keep the focus on those characters, and that the two new female characters cast for the movie would get a slightly smaller role.
This is according to the latest episode of Meet the Movie Press, in which The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider claimed to have heard the rumors. Turns out that Rey is quite a popular character, so much so that many had petitioned Hasbro to include her character in the Star Wars Monopoly game.
This is thanks to Daisy Ridley’s acting chops, that and the fact that so many are curious as to who she really is (some are speculating she could be Luke’s daughter, others think she might be Darth Vader reincarnated). In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but we have to admit we are curious about the new characters in the movies and would love a bit more backstory to them, but what do you guys think?
