Songs can mean different things to different people and just finding out the lyrics to your favorite tune isn’t enough to find out the real meaning behind it. There’s always a story like why a singer chose to work with a certain producer or collaborator or what inspired the lyrics to a particular song. To take you behind the lyrics and give you all of those stories popular music streaming service Spotify has teamed up with Genius.
Genius is the world’s largest collection of song lyrics and crowdsourced music knowledge, linking it up with Spotify will enable the service’s users to connect more deeply with the artists and songs that they love.
Spotify has introduced a new playlist called Behind the Lyrics (Hip Hop) and in the coming week, it will introduce another called Behind the Lyrics (HITS). These playlists are curated by Spotify and Genius and will allow listeners to get a behind-the-scenes experience of their favorite tunes.
The Spotify and Genius Behind the Lyrics experience is currently available to all Spotify subscribers with an iPhone though bear in mind that this isn’t supported on the IPhone 4s. The streaming service says that it’s going to expand the Behind the Lyrics experience to more music in the near future.
