Pandora today announced the launch of a new feature called Browse that aims to simplify music discovery for its users. It says that Browse is the perfect destination for users to discover their next favorite artist as recommendations are tailor-made for their individual musical tastes. The idea is to make it very easy for users to discover new music even if they aren’t really sure what new music they might be interested in.
Browse will serve up artists and stations that it finds to be relevant to the user only and since it looks at user behavior to make this call the feature will get better the more users listen to music using Pandora. It will also provide them with the nonstop discovery of new stations based on their listening activity.
With Browse, users will also be able to see what’s spinning on a station before they add it to their station list. They get music metrics as well which is the ability to view how many other people are also listening to the same artists, or how many fans have added that station.
Pandora has made some changes to app design as part of this update. A new Mini-Player at the bottom of the app provides one-tap access to whatever is playing. There’s a new Fly-Out menu in the top left corner which lists stations, feed, profile and settings. Artist pages have also been redesigned with a fresh format so that listeners can get more information about the artists they love.
Browse is currently available for iPhone users in the United States, Australia and New Zealand and it will arrive on Android in the near future.
