lg-g4-industrial-design-16From what we have learnt so far, it is safe to say that LG could have a new device in the works in the form of the LG G5, whose photos and specs have been leaking a fair bit as of late. That and the fact that LG is holding a press conference at MWC also leads us to believe that new handsets will be announced.

Now in case the LG G5 did not sit well with you, at least based on the speculation and rumors, you might have another chance at a LG flagship later in the year because according to LG, they have revealed that they will be launching two flagship smartphones this year, although they did not specify when.

This was revealed during LG’s fourth quarter financial results in which LG wrote, “The smartphone marketplace is expected to be increasingly competitive in 2016 due to anticipated premium models from competitors and further price competition within the mass tier space. The introduction of two new flagship models and a more cost-competitive value chain is expected to improve profitability in 2016.”

If this was last year, we would have speculated that LG could launch a new G Pro series of phones, but given that we did not see one last year, we’re not sure if that trend is continuing this year. Perhaps we could be looking at a successor to the LG V10, but either way we know that there are at least two flagships planned for 2016, so check back with us later for the details.
