Drones are pretty interesting devices – especially when you think out of the box to applying its use, although they will now need to be registered with the FAA with each purchase. While drones are also said to be a decent tool for making deliveries, they might have a larger role to play in the realm of social media soon. Why do we say this? Well, Twitter was given a patent last week for an unmanned aerial vehicle, or UAV, which is capable of snapping photos as well as videos, before sharing those items on user accounts. In other words, Twitter users might eventually be able to gain control over the drone’s movement, streaming out whatever it shoots along the way.
Twitter has so far remained mum on the possibility of manufacturing such drones, although a spokesperson on the matter did mention, “Two words: Drone selfies.” This particular patent follows after Twitter showed off Periscope that enabled users to stream live video from their accounts.
As to whether Twitter will eventually roll out a drone or not, that remains to be seen, but we will just have to be patient about the matter. Having said that, it would certainly be interesting to snap selfies and wefies from a drone, as it offers a far greater degree of versatility in the matter.
