Several months ago after polling its fans about the possibility of a Resident Evil 2 Remake, Capcom went ahead and announced that was exactly what they were going to do. Now given that we have seen various remasters and HD remakes in the past couple of years, it is understandable that some might have thought that this remake was along those same lines.
The good news is that if you’d rather a full remake rather than just a remastering, Capcom has since clarified any confusion that gamers might have about the upcoming game. According to Capcom UK’s senior market director Stuart Turner, he posted on Twitter confirming that the upcoming game will be rebuilt from the ground up, and that it is not a remaster.
“Seems to be a few people picking up a mistranslation in our own investor report. RE2 will be a full from the ground up remake NOT a remaster.” Apparently the confusion came about from Capcom’s investor’s report in which it was mistranslated from remake to remaster. This should be pretty exciting since Resident Evil 2 is a very iconic title in the franchise.
However the choice to rebuild Resident Evil 2 from the ground up is probably also bad news for those who are looking forward to Resident Evil 7, as we can only imagine that Capcom will probably focus its efforts at releasing one title at a time.
