The Google Nexus 6P is a beautiful phone with some very impressive hardware under its hood. However it seems that there might be some issue with the phone’s build quality. According to a post on Reddit, there have been some users reporting that the back glass panel of the phone has been spontaneously breaking.
According to the OP, “Well that was a surprise. For me, and the cat. It was sat on a table next to me when I heard the glass snap, leaving a little snowfall of shavings on the table under it. It’s now continuing to crack away to itself..” This sentiment was echoed by other users who have since gone on to post photos of their own Nexus 6P with cracked back glass.
At the moment it is unclear as to what might be causing the issue. Some users on Reddit have ventured that it could be due to an issue with the way the glass has been strengthened. There are also some who suggests that because the phone is made from metal that the expanding and contracting of the material might have been the reason behind it as well.
How long it takes for the glass to crack varies. Some users report that it happened less than a day after buying their phone, some report a bit long, but basically it varies. Some of the affected users have since complained to Google who has then forwarded the issue to Huawei. Hopefully there’ll be a good explanation as to why this is, but in the meantime any of our readers with the Nexus 6P experiencing similar issues?
