News Feed is the place to be on Facebook, this one destination provides you with updates of whatever is happening in the lives of your contacts, updates you about the Pages and groups you’re following and even brings in articles from some of the most prestigious publications. Now it’s going to make it easier for you to discover and share great music as well, all thanks to a new feature that Facebook is calling Music Stories.
Music Stories are a new post format which lets users listen to 30 second previews of shared songs or album on Facebook, the preview is streamed from Apple Music or Spotify, depending upon the source of the link shared. It can then be saved to or purchased from that respective music service.
Previews from Apple Music and iTunes will be available directly through Facebook, this feature is only available in Facebook for iOS right now, those who want more can click through to stream full tracks on Apple Music or purchase with a single click from the iTunes store. Previously from Spotify are also available within News Feed.
You don’t need to have either Apple Music or Spotify installed on your device to listen to previews, let alone be a subscriber. Facebook has also said that it’s going to add support for more music streaming services to Music Stories in the near future.
Facebook hopes that Music Stories will enable artists to share more and for users to engage more, ultimately allowing music to become a better part of the overall Facebook experience.
