To date Apple has not revealed the number of Apple Watches that they have sold. It is unclear why that is, perhaps the numbers are lower than what analysts had predicted, or maybe Apple is waiting for an even bigger number which will be more impressive when announced. What this means is that we have to rely on estimates.
According to the latest estimates provided by research firm Canalys, they have suggested that Apple has actually managed to sell as many as 7 million Apple Watch units since its launch in April earlier this year. Apparently this is more than what some other competing brands have sold in the past five quarters combined.
So far in terms of competing devices, last we heard the Samsung Gear S2 was doing pretty well. They are apparently selling about 2,000 units a day in South Korea, and recently it was reported that when the device launched in China, they managed to sell an impressive 180,000 units in over 8 hours.
The previous numbers we heard about the Apple Watch was last month, where research firm Strategy Analytics suggested that Apple might have sold as many as 4.6 million units in the previous quarter. Assuming that is true, it would make sense that combined with the previous quarter, 7 million units would not be that much of a stretch.
