Yesterday Microsoft officially announced the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL. Both handsets will be Microsoft’s flagship devices and will basically be the first Windows 10 handsets as well. So what about the rest of the Lumia lineup? When will they be able to expect their Windows 10 update?
According to a comment made by a Microsoft Lumia rep on Facebook, it seems that we can expect the Windows 10 update to begin rolling out to other Lumia handsets come December. The rep Michelle wrote that “broad availability of Windows 10 on other devices, including mobile phones, will begin rolling out in December.”
Unfortunately it is unclear if every Lumia handset will be getting the update, or if some of the lower-end models might be passed over due to hardware constraints, but hopefully that won’t be the case. Earlier this year it was reported that not all Lumia smartphones will get the update, and even those that do, there will be some where certain features are omitted.
That being said, another report from the middle of the year revealed which handsets will get the update first. This includes the Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL and the Lumia 735, along with the Lumia 830 and the Lumia 930.
