Nearly a week ago, we brought you word that the Sony QX30U lens camera could be close to a release, but it seems that today is not the day – yet. As far as Sony is concerned, they are more prepared to roll out a brand new compact camera that is a full-frame shooter – which would pack in a whopping 42.4-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor, now how about that? This particular digital camera happens to come with the moniker RX1R II, and the sensor in which it packs within would be similar to the one found in the A7R II mirrorless camera which was announced at the end of last year.
The second generation model of the RX1R would also boast of a retractable, 2.4-million-dot XGA OLED viewfinder, in addition to what Sony has deemed to be the “first optical variable low-pass filter in the world” – in other words, you are able to turn that filter on or off depending on the sharpness strength in which you would like to have when it comes to selected photos.
As for the fixed lens, it would be a 35mm (f2.0) ZEISS Sonnar T, which will not feature 4K video recording that might be a turn off for some, but at the very least, you will still be able to capture decent Full HD video at 24, 30 and 60 fps, whereas the ISO can be set at a maximum of 102,400 when expanded. The asking price is not cheap, of course, where Sony will ask you for $3,300 a pop when it arrives later this November. [Press Release]
