The Xiaomi Band is a no-nonsense fitness tracker. It does what most fitness trackers do at a fraction of the price. Now we’re sure many are waiting to see what Xiaomi has up their sleeves in the form of a successor, but in the meantime perhaps you might be interested in a device called the Amazfit.
So what is the Amazfit and what does it have to do with Xiaomi? Basically the Amazfit is a fitness tracker made by a Chinese company called Huami. It is a completely separate company from Xiaomi, although they are both linked by the fact that Xiaomi has actually invested in Huami, which is pretty much the extent of Xiaomi’s involvement.
That being said, the Amazfit is an interesting device and very different from the bevy of trackers out there. For starters the device kind of looks like a small donut. It comes in black or white and comes with very basic tracking features such as step counting, vibration alarms, notifications, and it even tracks your sleep.
While designed to be worn on the wrist, the device is said to be suitable to be worn around the neck as well, like a necklace or a choker, depending on your preference. Given its discreet design, those who are looking for trackers that don’t stick out like a sore thumb, this might be it. However given that it is currently sold in China, we’re not sure if there are plans to bring it stateside just yet.
