When you die in video games, it can be frustrating but all you’d need to do is hit restart or load a save point and you’re good to go again. There are some games like Diablo where they have introduced Hardcore characters. These characters when they die, they remain dead along with all your possessions and progress.
However if you’re so inclined, you could always roll a new character to start all over again. That being said, meet Upsilon Circuit. This is a game that has been designed so that when your character dies in the game, not only does it stay dead, but you don’t get to play the game anymore. Ever. Thankfully though the game is free so the only thing you would have wasted is your time.
The game is sort of like a deathmatch where you have two teams of 4 go against each other. While we reckon a lot of people will be dying at the start, the game’s developer Calvin Goble is hoping to see the game and its gameplay evolve as more players start to understand the risks and consequences involved.
According to Goble, “What I’m hoping happens is that the experience evolves and that the people who live longest will respect their one life, be more cautious and careful.” The game is currently in the stages of early development but if you’d like to learn more, hit up its website for the details.
