If there is one thing about Ghost In the Shell’s protagonist that would have caught the attention of many, it would be the fact that she tends to be wearing some sort of Virtual Reality (VR) headset, so it makes perfect sense that she would end up with a very own feature that Major can call her own. After all, it adds up, and in an effort to tie a free-to-play first-person shooter and a new movie together, Production I.G has decided to set up a spherical theater so that it can do its bit to project a short teaser movie.
We do know that there will be a Ghost in the Shell movie which will be filmed from next year onwards, but at the moment, the VR movie of sorts will have to do. Sporting a 3D effect that is delivered via a pair of red-and-green glasses, this would ensure that the viewer can experience a certain degree of immersion without having to put on a dedicated headset in the first place.
The full feature of this VR movie is tipped to arrive this coming winter, where it can be played in a glorious 360-degrees, and a demo version is slated to be released on Oculus Share prior to its retail rollout that will debut on Android as well as iOS platforms with an asking price of 480 yen thereabouts, translating to $4 or so.
