Google has confirmed that it’s going to conduct a press event on September 29th to show off some new products including but not limited to the new Nexus smartphones. According to reports the company may also show off the second-generation Chromecast at this event. Word on the street is that another Chromecast is in the pipeline over at Google with this one being all about audio.
9to5Google reports that the company is working on a new Chromecast that’s designed only for music and audio. It’s reportedly going to be called Chromecast Audio and it will work with speakers by plugging through a standard 3.5mm headphone cable.
It’s further claimed that users will be able to set up multiple Chromecast Audio units to speakers throughout their home or office and then have them play music in perfect sync.
It seems that you won’t be able to do much with this device except play music which is certainly what it’s going to be intended for, support for music streaming services will mean that you’ll be able to access the likes of Google Play Music, Spotify, Pandora and other services easily.
The standalone Chromecast Audio device is expected to be formally unveiled on September 29th at Google’s event in San Francisco.
