With Chrome belonging to Google and users being able to sign into the browser and sync their history, bookmarks, favorites, and more across devices, it is understandable why many users have turned to Google Chrome as their default browser. Now for those who are constantly on the lookout for new features, the latest beta might be of interest to you.Google has recently updated its Chrome Beta for Android to v45.0.2454.21. In this update, it adds several new features, with some notable additions being Custom Tabs and updated media playback controls. Of course there are also your usual bug fixes and performance improvements, along with a better way of logging for feedback reports (it is a beta after all).
For those who are unfamiliar with custom tabs, Google has described it as, “Chrome custom tabs give apps more control over their web experience, and make transitions between native and web content more seamless without having to resort to a WebView. Chrome custom tabs allow an app to customize how Chrome looks and feels.”
Basically it lets developers customize the toolbar color, enter and exit animations, and add custom actions to the Chrome toolbar and overflow menu. It will also allow the developer to pre-start Chrome and pre-fetch content so that the user will be able to get to what they need quicker.
