Dog collars are pretty standard in the sense that you put them around the neck of your dog and you’re done. You can choose to attach a leash to it if you want, and sometimes dog owners can also add a little tag to display their pet’s name or their address so that people know where to return the dog to if it is lost.
However a Kickstarter project called Buddy wants to take things to the next level. Buddy is a collar for your dog but it isn’t your run of the mill collar. For starters it will glow, thus allowing you to locate your dog easily. Now before you think you can easily add a LED strip to your existing collar, Buddy does more than light up.
Buddy is also a fitness tracker of sorts for your pet. It will be able to collect information on your dog such as its body temperature, exercise levels, and it even comes with a built-in GPS so that you can track your dog in the event that it has gone missing. So not only is this a nifty light-up collar, but for those who want to manage their dog’s health on a deeper level, Buddy seems like it’s just what the doctor ordered.
That being said, its creators are a tad ambitious with their plans. They are currently trying to raise $385,000 for their project, but so far have only managed to raise around $115,000. With 16 days to go, we can’t be sure if they will make it, but if you’d like to pledge your support anyway, hit up its Kickstarter page for the details.
