When it comes to notifications for WhatsApp, they are pretty limited. You can choose the sound the app makes between individual or group chats, but that’s about it. This means that if you wanted to separate notifications from different contacts, you’d be out of luck, at least until now thanks to an upcoming update.
According to the update, it seems that users will now be able to select custom notifications for every chat that they are involved with. This includes choosing the notification tone, vibration, popup notifications, and whether or not they want a light to flash. Like we said this applies to pretty much every conversation you’re in.
This means that you can choose notifications for family members, your partner, or you can even choose to mute notifications from people who might be bothering you a bit too much. In addition to custom notifications, the update will also introduce a way to mark a conversation as unread, so that those dreaded blue ticks won’t ruin anymore relationships.
The developers have also introduced a new low data option when it comes to voice calls. Given that voice calls usually consume more data than texting, turning on this option is ideal when you’re in a place with slow internet or when you’re running low on data. The latest version of WhatsApp, which seems to be only available for Android for now, is available via APK Mirror, but presumably it will be rolled out officially soon.
