Xiaomi is no doubt a force to be reckoned with. Despite being relatively late to the wearable scene, the company has dominated it thanks to cheap prices, catapulting them into second place only behind Fitbit. The company has also managed to overtake the likes of Samsung in China and secured themselves the number 3 position in the world.
This is why it does not come as a complete surprise to learn that the Chinese company has reportedly managed to ship 35 million smartphones in the first half of 2015. This information is not directly from Xiaomi and it is from a China-based display supplier, so take it with a grain of salt for now, but like we said it really doesn’t come as a surprise.
The report goes on to claim that the 35 million units shipped is a 30% increase and if things keep moving like they do, the company should have no problems meeting its goal of 80-100 million units shipped by the end of the year. However we should note that shipments does not translate into direct sales, but it is usually a good indication of the demand for the product.
Xiaomi largely competes based on price and typically offers up relatively decent specs for extremely affordable prices, which explains why they have managed to appeal to emerging markets where price is usually the biggest pull.
