Microsoft has made a couple of important announcements related to Windows 10 over the past few days. It confirmed when Windows 10 is going to be released and also detailed which features users will lose when they upgrade from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. The company today confirmed Windows 10 license pricing and it’s really not that different from what Microsoft has charged before for previous Windows iterations.
Windows 10 is going to be offered as a free upgrade to all Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users who have a genuine copy, the free upgrade will only be provided for a year but that should give users ample time to upgrade their system. After the year is up they will have to pay.
The license price will also be paid by users who either build their own PCs or are upgrading from older iterations like Windows 10. It will get them a genuine copy of Windows 10 for one PC.
Microsoft has confirmed that the license price for Windows 10 Home is $119 and for the Pro version it’s going to charge customers $199. It’s possible to purchase Home first and upgrade to Pro later on by buying the Windows 10 Pro Pack for an extra $99.
The company will sell Windows 10 licenses both online and in retail stores, the latest iteration of its desktop software is going to be released next month.
