When it comes to the in-flight entertainment systems offered to you during your flight, most of the time the hardware tends to be really old, outdated, laggy, and the displays are usually very low-res making the viewing experience less than ideal. It is also not surprising that because of this more passengers are turning to their mobile devices to entertain themselves instead.
The good news is that if you find yourself flying with Virgin America frequently, you will be pleased to learn that the airline company will be making some upgrades as far as its in-flight entertainment systems are concerned. They will be turning to the use of Android as their platform of choice in which it will allow more sophisticated entertainment features to be installed, while offering up even more shows than ever thanks to a larger storage space.
The displays have also been upgraded and now passengers will be able to enjoy shows like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black in 720p HD resolution. That being said not all Virgin America flights will get the upgrade. As it stands on three aircrafts will receive the upgrade, but the company is aiming to roll it out to as many as 18 fleets by the end of the year, although it will only be 2016 when every single Virgin America flight will have the latest systems.
