Last week we reported that the folks over at the Internet Archive discovered that they could embed their MS-DOS games in their tweets, thus allowing gamers to play classic games without having to leave Twitter. This is good for Twitter, isn’t it? After all it just means that users will be staying on their site longer.
However it seems that Twitter did not appreciate it and has since removed the playable games from tweets. This was discovered by gamers over the weekend who tried to access the titles from the tweets. Instead of being able to play the game, users will now find a link that will take them to the actual page instead.
This isn’t exactly a huge inconvenience as it would probably just mean a couple of seconds of extra waiting, but like we said we would have thought that Twitter would prefer more users to be engaged on its website. However as speculated by GamesIndustry, the removal probably had to do with the violation of one of Twitter’s T&C.
According to that particular T&C, it reads, “Do not build end-to-end interactive experiences inside the video or audio player unrelated to Player Card content, such as the following: purchasing, gaming, polling, messaging, and data entry.” So, did any of you guys get a chance to take advantage of the feature while it was still available?
