If you’re a fan of Roku’s streaming set-top boxes, you might be interested to learn that the company has officially announced the refreshing of the Roku 2 and the Roku 3. With the latest refresh in hardware, it looks like the company has given customers more reasons to upgrade to their latest products.
Starting with the Roku 3, the device has been refreshed and it will sport a brand new remote control that comes with a dedicated voice search button on it. This lets users perform voice searches and look up information, such as an actor’s name, movie, TV series, and etc. without having to type it in. In fact in the demo, it seems that the voice search is pretty good at picking up commands.
However for those who wouldn’t mind saving a bit of money, then perhaps the refreshed Roku 2 might be more for you. The device is priced at $69 and the company has basically upgraded its specs and has put it on par with the Roku 3. This means that performance wise it is just as fast as the Roku 3, but in the meantime you will lose out on the voice search capabilities.
For those who aren’t too fussed, we reckon the Roku 2 would be a more value for money purchase. Interestingly enough the refresh of both the Roku 2 and 3 have us wondering if the Roku 4 could be in the works, but so far the company has kept mum on the topic.
