A report from Bloomberg last week revealed that OnePlus is gearing up for two handset launches this year – one will be the OnePlus Two and the other is said to be a cheaper model. Now thanks to the folks at DroidPile, it seems that they have managed to obtain some additional information with regards to the cheaper model.
According to them, their sources have told them that the cheaper model will be called the OnePlus One Lite. Now before you think that this is a downgrade over the OnePlus One, think again because apparently it will have better specs than the OnePlus One, but it will be less powerful than the OnePlus Two, which makes us think that it would have been better off named as the OnePlus Two Lite.
Exactly what kind of specs we might be looking at remains to be seen, but as a quick recap, the OnePlus One came with a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3GB of RAM with 16/64GB of storage, a 13MP rear-facing camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, and a 3,100mAh battery. That being said, we suppose you could try to imagine a slightly improved version of those specs for the OnePlus One Lite.
As for when OnePlus will be making the official announcement, the company has sent out invites for an event tomorrow but whether or not the handsets will be revealed remains to be seen. After all we have seen the company use similar teasers with its other products, so it might not necessarily be an indication of the OnePlus Two’s/OnePlus One Lite’s launch, but either way do check back with us then for the details.
